Tamura Shihan

The group of dojos where I practice Aikido belongs to the Spanish Federation of Aikido Technicians which is the Spanish delegation of the French Federation of Aikido and Budo. The founder and technical director of the FFAB is Tamura Nobuyoshi Shihan.

Tamura was born on March 2, 1933 in Osaka, Japan. He currently holds the rank of 8th Dan Shihan in Aikido bestowed by the Aikikai of Tokyo. Tamura studied for many years under Ueshiba Morihei O Sensei.

Tamura held a prominent place among the small group of Uchideshi (live-in students of Ueshiba). In 1964 Ueshiba sent Tamura to Marseille, France to disseminate the teachings of Aikido. Since then Tamura has dedicated his life to the development of Aikido in Europe and particularly in France.

He is the author of several books on the practice of Aikido and the methodology of its teaching.

His dojo, Shimeikan, is located in Bras, France.

At least once a year Tamura visits Spain to offer intensive multi-day courses in Aikido.

I started practicing Aikido in 2000. It instantly became one of my main interests. And the rest is history.
